Proeon was founded in 2018 in India as a company focusing on high functional proteins based on mung bean and chick pea. These proteins can be used for the production of sustainable, healthy and plant-based alternatives for cheese, beverages, butter and eggs among other things. The products of Proeon have a high protein concentration, a high foaming capacity and stability, and unique emulsification properties, which means that they can easily be processed in the food industry and serve as suitable replacement for the current market standard. Because of their neutral taste and smooth mouth feel, the proteins will barely affect the flavor in foods in which it is processed. Additionally the proteins are exceptionally nutritious due to their complete amino acid profile.
For expanding their product portfolio, Proeon plans to perform extensive R&D on new recipes and different protein modification pathways in order to obtain the right properties for new application areas. With this aim in mind, Proeon Foods B.V. has been established at Planet B.io in 2022. For the development and eventual commercialization of their products, Proeon will heavily rely on the knowledge and expertise of parties in the biotech industry. The office and lab facilities of Planet B.io offer the ideal place for Proeon to perform the required R&D and to surround itself with the essential expertise.
