FUL Food’s aim is to decarbonize the food sector by producing carbon negative food products. Through biorefinery of micro algae, FUL Foods delivers an ingredient for beverages and food that benefits our planet according to the triple bottom line (people, planet, profit). As a first product FUL Foods already produces an algae based refreshing beverage. Decarbonizing nutrient production is the core positioning of FUL Foods, and therefore, necessary for the success of FUL Foods as a company. This LCA will contribute to the success of the company in different ways:
- Improve: The LCA will help FUL Foods to identify hotspots and improvement areas and creating a sustainable scalable plan.
- Scale up: The LCA will demonstrate technoeconomic feasibility of our business model, providing FUL Foods with enough data and information to connect with likeminded organizations and investors that could contribute to scale up production capacity and distribution.
- Credibility: Obtaining a carbon footprint score will allow FUL Foods to benchmark its products with other nutrition sources, having a basis for environmental claims to communicate to consumers and to other stakeholders. There is a lot of greenwashing around sustainability and having the support of a respected organization as CE Delft will be key to measure our impact and obtain credibility.
